Honeydew and Blue

Honeydew and Blue

Watercolor

You might say that a melon in an ornate goblet, on a bed of blueberries, is definitely mouth-watering and a likely still-life subject. But my intention was to place large against small, warm colors against cool, and simple and patterned objects against each other. There is also the element of balance: the heavy melon over the light berries. This painting has shown in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society National Exhibition in 2013.
